The results are in and Pacific Dunes yet again will stand proudly as it’s awarded a Top 100 position in the Bi-annual golf course ranking of Australia best golf courses, by Australian Golf Digest.

Now ranked #59 in Australia, Pacific Dunes has been placed in the top 60 courses since 2014, holding strong considering the tough environmental obstacles the Australian conditions have served over the last 36 months.

It no doubt has been a difficult 36 months not only for the region, but many other areas of Australia with severe drought conditions effecting the growth of grass on the course. Whilst every effort is taken to keep the course in pristine condition, water restrictions have also played a part in the hardship the region has faced.

Undoubtedly the efforts of the greens staff, management and owners, RCL Group have gone above and beyond as Pacific Dunes is prizes with its #59 position out of some 1500 Australian courses. An effort the whole team is very proud of.

To arrive at a courses final score, resulting in its placing, the panel of judges whom play each course give a score out of 80. The scoring is based on:

Shot Values: How well do the holes pose a variety of risks and rewards and equally test length, accuracy and finesse?

Resistance to Scoring: How difficult, while still being fair, is the course for a scratch player from the back tees?

Design Variety: How varied are the holes in differing lengths, configurations, hazard placements, green shapes and green contours?

Memorability: How well do the design features provide individuality to each hole yet a collective continuity to the entire 18?

Aesthetics: How well do the scenic values of the course add to the pleasure of a round?

Conditioning: How firm, fast and rolling were the fairways, how firm yet receptive were the greens and how true were the roll of putts on the day you played the course?

Ambience: How well does the overall feel and atmosphere of the course reflect or uphold the traditional values of the game?
